The Ukraine national flag was adopted on 04 September, 1991 -  shortly after the collapse of the former Soviet Union.

This is the country's original flag, but it was banned for many decades under German and Soviet occupations. The blue represents the sky.  The the yellow represents Ukraine's golden wheat fields.
